About us
The Foreign Office of the State of Baden-Württemberg operates on behalf of the Baden-Württemberg State Ministry and serves as the central point of contact for all matters related to economic and scientific cooperation between Baden-Württemberg and the United Kingdom. The operational management is handled by Baden-Württemberg’s economic development agency, Baden-Württemberg International.
As the primary contact point for stakeholders on both sides of the Channel, we aim to promote bilateral economic, innovation, and scientific relations between Baden-Württemberg and the United Kingdom. We support companies, start-ups, research institutions, and universities from Baden-Württemberg in their planned and ongoing activities in the UK. At the same time, we serve as a resource for British companies and investors with inquiries about Baden-Württemberg as a business location.
We take a modern, decentralized approach: Since the summer of 2023, the BWUK Office has been part of the German Business Hub. This move has allowed us to create synergies with other German organizations.
Since 2023, Baden-Württemberg has had Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with both Wales and Scotland, with the BWUK Office actively involved in the preparations. As part of these MoUs, we continue to implement further activities in collaboration with our partner regions.
Additionally, we are working with the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, and the innovation hub CODE_n on the first UK-German Tech Accelerator Program. Starting in September 2024, six British technology start-ups will set up base in Stuttgart for five months, where they will participate in a tailored program designed to help them grow their businesses alongside leading Baden-Württemberg industries.
